Support Scholarships
Named Scholarships within the College of Business are an excellent way for individuals, businesses and foundation partners to demonstrate their commitment to higher education and to achieve particular branding or philanthropic goals. A named scholarship is a way of leaving a legacy and supporting the students both now and in the future.
Barzilay Scholarship
Established in 1972 by the Barzilay Foundation. This scholarship is awarded to Broward Community College transfer students enrolled in the College of Business. The recipient is awarded the scholarship for two years.
Bok Scholarship in Business
Established by Robert and Diane Bok, both 1980 graduates of FAU. This scholarship is awarded to students with financial need in the College of Business who demonstrate high academic performance and who are not being considered for any other scholarships.
Juanita Brown Scholarship
Established in 2000 by Stanley Brown and friends, in memory and honor of Dr. Juanita Brown, a professor of marketing. This scholarship is awarded to degree-seeking students in the College of Business who maintain a 3.25 GPA.
W.S. Brown Scholarship
Established by JMB Arvida Corporation. This scholarship is awarded to students with a minor in real estate in the College of Business.

Awarded to students showing merit (3.0 GPA or higher) and verifiable financial need
Robert M. and Nadine A. Fitzgerald Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was created by Robert and Nadine Fitzgerald to provide scholarship opportunities to degree-seeking, part or full-time students who have a GPA of 3.8 or higher. It is not renewable.
Suheyla Gencsoy Spirit of Freedom Scholarship
This scholarship was created by Suheyla Gencsoy to be awarded to students enrolled in the international business program. Preference is given to students who hold an interest in Turkish studies. The recipient must be a graduate of an American or Turkish High School, be fluent in English, and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. A preference is given to students who show verifiable financial need. This scholarship is renewable if the student maintains this GPA.
Frances and Victor Ginsberg Scholarship Fund
Established in 1991 by Dr. Victor Ginsberg, a 1987 FAU alumnus, and the Ginsberg Charitable Trust. An annual award is available for four years to a student enrolled in the College of Business who demonstrates financial need.
Greater Boca Raton Estate Planning Council – Michael Gersten Memorial Scholarship
Established in 1986 by the Greater Boca Raton Estate Planning Council, and renamed in memory of Palm Beach County judge, Michael Gersten in 1995. The scholarship is awarded to a full-time undergraduate or graduate student studying finance, accounting or estate planning.
J.M. Family Enterprises, Inc. Scholarship
Established in 2004 through the generosity of J.M. Family Enterprises, Inc. to provide an annual scholarship to a student enrolled in the College of Business. The applicant must have a 3.0 GPA and verifiable financial need.
Katz General Scholarship
Established by retired FAU professor Dr. Alvin Katz and his wife, Lenore. This annual award is presented to College of Business students who are single parents and demonstrate excellent academic achievement and financial need.
Lifelong Learning Society Scholarships
The Lifelong Learning Society has donated funds to create scholarships for deserving students within each of the colleges at FAU’s Boca Raton campus.
Haychel Gomez Melli and Patrick Melli Scholarship
Established in 1999 by Haychel and Patrick Melli. This scholarship is awarded to a student enrolled in the College of Business and is based on academic merit (a minimum 3.0 GPA) and financial need. Preference is given to Latin women living in Dade, Broward or Palm Beach counties.
Minto Communities Scholarship
Established in 2006 by Minto Communities, Inc. to annually provide four equal scholarships to part time or full time students enrolled in marketing, real estate, architecture and civil engineering. The students must have verifiable financial need, a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be a Florida resident.
William E. Pollier Scholarship
Established in 1987 by Mrs. B.B. Pollier in honor and memory of her son, William, a former FAU staff member. The award is given to an outstanding, graduating senior enrolled in the College of Business who will continue as a full-time student in a master’s program.
Rose Memorial Scholarship
Established by Mrs. Charles Rose in memory of her husband. This scholarship is awarded to outstanding students in the College of Business.
Virginia and Douglas Stewart Business Scholarship
This scholarship was created to provide scholarships to students in the College of Business in memory of Douglas E. Stewart and Virginia E. Stewart and in appreciation of Professor Gary A. Luing.
Business Ethics Scholarships
Mildred A. Becker Ethics Scholarship
Established by the estate of Mildred A. Becker to help a full-time student in the College of Business. Recipient must be a U.S. citizen, show financial need and have high academic standards. Applicant must have completed the three-credit Business Law course or an equivalent and also be involved in community service.
Hilda A. Krinzman Ethics Scholarship Fund
Established by Hilda Krinzman this scholarship is awarded to students who have completed a course in Business Law or Advanced Business Law or a course studying the ethical environment of business. Students must also have demonstrated financial need, show commitment to community service and have a GPA of at least 2.5.
Edward E. Shoaf Ethics Scholarship
Established in 2001 by Edward Shoaf for full-time students with demonstrated financial need. Students must complete the three-credit Business Law course or an equivalent, and be involved in community service.
Lee J. and Esther S. Steindel Ethics Scholarship
This business ethics scholarship was established from the estate of the Steindels in 2000. Scholarships are awarded to full-time students with demonstrated financial need. Students must complete the three-credit business law course or an equivalent and be involved in community service.
Virginia and Douglas Stewart Business Ethics Scholarship
Established in 2000 by the Virginia and Douglas Stewart Trust. Students under consideration must complete either the ethical environment or business law course, have demonstrated financial need, have a commitment to community service and have earned a minimum 2.5 GPA at FAU.
Welcom H. Watson Ethics Scholarship
Established by friends in honor of “Hank” Watson and awarded to students enrolled in the College of Business. Recipients must be residents of Broward County with demonstrated financial need, a GPA of 2.5 or greater and a commitment to community service, who have completed the three-hour business law course or an equivalent.
School of Accounting
The School of Accounting is fortunate to have the support of many national and local organizations. These organizations ask the School of Accounting Scholarship Committee to recommend FAU accounting students for scholarships. To be considered for one of these scholarships, students must complete an online Scholarship Application Form. In general, students should consider applying for accounting scholarships when they
(1) have at least a 3.0 GPA in accounting courses and overall,
(2) are juniors, seniors, or fifth year students,
(3) have taken at least Intermediate Accounting Theory I, and
(4) have taken at least one accounting course at FAU.
Broward County Chapter of the Florida Institute of CPA’s
This annual award was created by the Florida Institute of CPA - Broward County Chapter to provide annual scholarships to deserving students. Recipients must be degree seeking with a major in accounting, attained junior (or higher) status and/or work in Broward County. Selection is made on academic achievement with consideration for extracurricular activities, including employment or service in the accounting profession.
Crowe Horwath LLP Outstanding Accounting Student Scholarship
Awarded to a student in their senior year with a minimum GPA of a 3.3. The recipient will be a U.S. citizen permanently residing in Florida. The student shall demonstrate leadership skills.
Ken P. Hoffman Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was created by Kay Worner, the mother of Ken Hoffman who was a graduate of FAU, to provide educational opportunities to students in the school of accounting. The scholarship is awarded to one student per year and is renewable. The student must be enrolled in the school of accounting and be a member of the accounting student association.
Barbara L. Newman Memorial Scholarship in Accounting
Established in 1984 by Harrison Newman. This scholarship is awarded to students with financial need who are in their fifth year of studies in the College of Business.
Rosalie Premuroso Scholarship
A fund for future Ph.D. accounting candidates in the School of Accounting for both scholarly research and attendance at important academic conferences. The endowment is named after the mother of Ronald F. Premuroso, Ph.D., CPA, who was an important part of Dr. Premuroso's development and who passed away at a young age from cancer. Dr. Premuroso received his Ph.D. in Philosophy, with a concentration in accounting, from the School of Accounting in 2008.
Paul Zelenkofske Accounting Scholarship
This scholarship was created in 2004 through the generosity of Richard R. and Stacey Shavell and other family members in honor of Stacy’s father, Paul Zelenkofske. Applicants must be in their 3rd, 4th or 5th year in the school of accounting and show verifiable financial need. Preference is given to non-traditional/older students who are working while going to school. The scholarship is renewable if the student is making satisfactory progress towards his/her degree.

Award for accounting majors only.
Economic Department
The Economics Department has a limited number of awards available depending on funds availability. The following are the more frequently awarded scholarships. Students are nominated by faculty in the department.
Maale, Feuerlein & Redman Award for Excellence in Economic Principles
This fund was created to honor faculty members Aileen D. Maale, Willy J. Feuerlein and Milton B. Redman and is awarded to exceptional students studying economic principles.
Entrepreneurial Studies
The Boyer Scholarship for Women in Entrepreneurial Studies
To encourage women entrepreneurs, Dr. Dennis Boyer, a longtime supporter of FAU’s entrepreneurship center, current faculty member, and active entrepreneur, has generously created a scholarship program. The goal of the scholarship is to attract more women into the entrepreneurship program as well as to retain those currently in it. $1,000 is available per successful applicant. Serena Kirsch Scholarship for Women in Entrepreneurial Studies
Annual scholarship created by Suzanne Klein in honor of her mother, a business entrepreneur. Recipient is selected from a pool of qualified female business majors with emphasis on entrepreneurial studies.
Louis J. Prenner Memorial Scholarship
Established in 1995 by Louis Prenner. This scholarship is awarded to a student who has a minimum 3.0 GPA and an emphasis in entrepreneurial studies. Involvement in extracurricular activities will be considered.
Robert L. Schattner Entrepreneurial Scholarship in Business
The scholarship will be a one or two year award that provides financial support for undergraduate or graduate students who demonstrate a strong interest in starting their own company with a preference to students with financial need. Scholarship applications will be reviewed by a selection committee within the College of Business. Preference will be given to a citizen of the United States of America with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale.
Health Administration
These scholarships are managed by the Health Administration Program. In addition to the ones listed below, several one-time scholarships have been given in the past. Some scholarships are offered that are not from Foundation funds: Health Administration Program Scholarships, Health Administration Alumni Club Awards, and Health Administration Leadership Awards. The student should check with the Program Director for further information (BUS-W 132D)
North Broward Hospital District Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to FAU students residing in Broward County and majoring in health administration.
Helen L. Prenner Memorial Scholarship
Established in 1995 by Louis Prenner in honor of his wife, Helen. This scholarship is awarded to students in the health administration program with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Extracurricular activities, family and employment obligations are also considered.
Insurance
State Farm Companies Scholarship
The recipient of this scholarship shall be determined in accordance with the following criteria:
a. A full time student in the junior or senior year of study who is interested in completing the prescribed courses to complete a "Certificate In Insurance Studies"
b. A student interested in a career path within the insurance industry
c. A student who has and maintains a minimum grade point average of 3.5
Marketing
Bernard Kozel and Molly Foreman Kozel Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a student enrolled in the College of Business who is interested in marketing. Preference is given to female students.
