Specializations in International Business

An International Business Specialization helps students understand the growing impact of international business and competition -- and how to operate in today's global marketplace. Virtually every business faces challenges from the international market; even small businesses, which in the past only focused on the domestic market, are looking to international opportunities and staying aware of global events to better position themselves in the market.

A specialization in International Business will provide you with an international perspective that expands and deepens your global viewpoint and allows you to gain a broader respect for all countries and cultures; this perspective is invaluable across all functional areas of a business.

Students in the International Business Specialization develop:

  • Analytical tools to evaluate a constantly changing business environment.
  • Leadership qualities to make decisions when faced with international competition.
  • Creativity to solve problems within foreign cultures, markets and business environments

International Field Study Tour

International Business Specialization students can participate in an International Field Study Tour as a 3-credit class; these study tour trips are scheduled in May of each year and last approximately 10-12 days. Past destinations have included:

  • Greece and Cyprus - 2007
  • Spain (Madrid & Barcelona) - 2008
  • China (Beijing, Shanghai & Dalien) - 2009
