Flexible MBA - Finance
The principal objective of the Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) Program is to advance the quality of business management. The MBA program provides advanced management education in an environment that encourages students to extend their leadership capabilities. A Master of Business Administration degree enables students to gain broad managerial skills and to develop specialized expertise in a business discipline that best suits their career aspirations.
Student s that pursue a MBA with a specialization in Finance will focus all program electives (12 credits) toward their area of concentration. Students will have the opportunity to select from graduate level courses in the Department of Finance Programs to fulfill specialization requirements. Students must obtain a “B” grade or better in all elective courses to achieve Finance Specialization.

The Department of Finance objective is to prepare students for careers in corporate finance, financial services, and other industries. We consider, as an integral part of our mission, the production of scholarly research and involvement of its faculty in providing service to the College of Business, FAU, and the community of South Florida.
The Department of Finance can boast of the accomplishments of the faculty and students. The faculty has published research in the leading academic and practitioner journals such as the Journal of Financial Economics, The Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, the Journal of Banking and Finance, Financial Management, the Journal of Financial Research, and The Financial Review. The faculty also excels in teaching at the undergraduate, Masters' and Ph.D. levels, winning several teaching awards and drawing from business experience. Faculty in the department have also authored textbooks used in many other universities.
Our faculty achievement influences our students' achievements. After graduation, students enter the workforce prepared and advance rapidly. Finance students are currently working for Fortune 500 companies in the south Florida area as well as in other parts of the country and overseas.

Learning goals for the Finance major
- Analyze the relationships that exist between the financial markets and the financial decisions of business enterprises.
- Apply the economic and financial theories regarding asset pricing to problem solving in financial management, investment management, and financial institutions.
- Explain the role of portfolio theory, diversification concepts, and asset-pricing theory in decision-making in both the business enterprise and investment management.
- Perform a financial analysis using financial statement information and other disclosures in order to assess the financial condition and performance of a business enterprise.

Estimate the future cash flows associated with a financial or capital asset and apply valuation techniques to these cash flows to determine a present value that will assist in decision-making.
